What is the difference between flat size and folded size?

Flat size refers to the brochure before folding. As its name indicates, the folded size is how the brochure measures after folding.

Do I need to fold my custom brochures myself?

No, our custom brochures will be delivered to you folded based on the folding options you choose upon checkout.

The sizes shown on our website are flat, but we also indicate the equivalent sizes when folded.

Yes, the paper is coated on both sides. If you need to write on the back of the custom brochure, we suggest choosing a matte coating for both sides.

We recommend the 100 lb. paper stock for brochures since it’s thicker compared to 70 lb. and 80 lb. paper stock. The 100 lb. paper stock is more durable, making it ideal for repeated use. The added weight lends a premium feel to suit a more upscale target audience.

We also recommend a high gloss UV coating for more vibrant designs. It also offers added protection from tears and scratches. Or, select a matte finish for minimalist and elegant designs.

Trifold is one of the most popular types of brochures. This fold divides your sheet of paper or card into three panels. Company brochures are often designed in a trifold format because they need to be both compact and large enough for text and images.

The accordion fold is a good alternative to the trifold. It is folded into the shape of an accordion rather than inward, allowing you to organize your content into three separate parts. This type of fold is great for step by step guides.

The French fold is the best option for bigger designs. A large sheet of paper that is folded down to a small, portable size. French fold brochures are commonly used for maps and diagrams.

Yes. If you have not created your design using CMYK color values, your RGB file will be converted to CMYK during the proofing process in order to print it on a printing press. This will likely cause a color shift in your finished product. We recommend that you set your file to CMYK before saving for accurate results.

Yes, we will send you a digital file that simulates your print order. Proofing allows you to preview your design and check that it will print correctly or if it needs to be revised. When you are satisfied and after you sign off on the proof, we can begin printing your order.

Gloss creates a reflective shine to your printed product and makes designs more vivid. Gloss coating also protects the surface from dust and moisture.

High-gloss UV is even shinier so it adds more saturation to colors. Additionally, UV coating provides an added layer of durability to our print products due to its thickness and abrasion resistance. You can write on gloss and high gloss coated print products with permanent pens and markers.

These are printing terms that show you which elements of your design are within guidelines when your order goes to print.

“Trim” shows you the full, finished size of the printed product. When laying out your design, the images and copy placed in this area will be trimmed off.

The “safe zone” is all areas found inside the trim. This is the important elements and information of your design that you do not want to cut.

The “bleed” is the extra material that will be trimmed off. It allows you to extend the unnecessary edges of your design so that when it’s trimmed, you will not be left with white edge.

Trifolds and z-folds have the same section size when folded. For an 8.5” x 11” paper, each section will be 3.698” x 8.5”. For bi-folds of the same size, it’s 5.5” x 8.5”. For trifolds and z-folds on 11” x 17” paper, it’s 5.698” x 11”. For bi-folds the size of each area is 8.5” x 11”.

Shrink wrapping is the process of heating polymer plastic film to cover and package items tightly. This allows you to bundle your brochures in portable packs and keep them from rubbing against each other during transit. It also makes it easier to move and store your items, improving their longevity.

70 lb. Text is bright white, uncoated paper that is excellent for writing and is 3.5 times heavier than regular copy paper.

80 lb. Text is an economical, lightweight coated paper suitable for distribution and handing out at an event.

100 lb. Text is a thick, premium coated paper with greater durability. The brochure is more likely to have less creases and no tears even after being stored in the receiver's bag.
